Macbeth-
Fall 2018
Our final project in Costume Design II had us created a series of designs for a production of Macbeth, based on specific political periods in history. I was given the setting of 1950s and 60s Philippines, during the presidency, and later dictatoriship, of Ferdinand Marcos. My main goal was to educate myself not only on the historical figures in question, but on the the cultural and traditional fashions of the Philippines too. Not only would this help be build a deeper world view for the play, but also give the respect needed for cultural and historical accuracy involving specific figures and references towards Filipino history.
